Yard Hostler / Yard Jockey – Part-Time Nights
Location: Tacoma, WA
Pay: $24.00–$27.00 per hour
Schedule: Part-Time | Overnight Shifts | Additional Forklift Hours Available
SmartTalent is actively seeking an experienced, dependable Yard Hostler / Yard Jockey to support one of our valued logistics clients in Tacoma, WA. This opportunity is ideal for someone with experience maneuvering trailers, maintaining organized yard operations, and working safely in a fast-paced environment.
Our ideal candidate will also have forklift experience and the flexibility to work two additional overnight shifts each week. However, candidates available for the two hostler shifts only are strongly encouraged to apply!
Work Schedule
Yard Hostler – Required
- Sunday: 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM
- Monday: 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM
Forklift Operator – Additional Shifts (Preferred)
- Tuesday: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- Wednesday: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Job Responsibilities
- Safely move, position, and stage trailers throughout the yard.
- Maintain organized trailer placement to support warehouse operations.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and follow safety protocols.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and material movement using a forklift when scheduled.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel and operations teams.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
Qualifications
- Previous yard hostler, yard jockey, or trailer spotting experience preferred.
- Ability to safely maneuver and position trailers in a busy yard.
- Forklift experience strongly preferred for candidates seeking additional shifts.
- Strong attention to safety and operational procedures.
- Dependable attendance and ability to work independently.
- Availability for consistent overnight shifts.
