Chief Architect
Smart Data Solutions, a leading provider of data management, claim routing and workflow solutions to health plans and TPAs, is looking for a Chief Architect to join our team!
The Chief Architect will serve as strategic technology leader responsible for defining and driving the architectural vision for Smart Data Solutions healthcare automation platform. This role ensures scalability, security, and innovation across all products and services, aligning technology decisions with business objectives and industry standards.
What you’ll be doing?
Architectural Strategy & Leadership
- Define and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap to support SDS’s growth and product evolution.
- Establish architectural standards, frameworks, and best practices for software development and system integration.
- Partner with executive leadership to align technology strategy with business goals.
Solution Design & Innovation
- Lead the design of scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for healthcare data processing and automation.
- Evaluate emerging technologies (AI/ML, cloud-native architectures, interoperability standards) for adoption.
- Drive modernization initiatives, including migration to microservices and cloud platforms.
Governance & Quality Assurance
- Oversee architecture reviews and ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and interoperability standards (HIPAA, HITRUST, FHIR).
- Implement governance processes for technology decisions and technical debt management.
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Implementation teams to ensure architectural integrity across projects.
- Mentor senior engineers and solution architects, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
Performance & Scalability
- Ensure systems meet performance benchmarks and can scale to support growing data volumes and client demands.
- Optimize infrastructure for cost efficiency and reliability.

What we’re looking for?
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 10 years of experience in software architecture and design, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in SaaS architecture, preferably in healthcare technology.
Technical Expertise
- Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and microservices architecture.
- Strong understanding of healthcare data standards (EDI, HL7, FHIR) and security protocols.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks (Java, .NET, Python).
- Experience with AI/ML integration and data analytics platforms.
Certifications
- TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar certifications preferred.
Soft Skills
- Strategic thinker with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Location: This role is located in our Dallas, TX office.
