Role Description This is a full-time, hybrid Director of Sales (Ad Sales) role based in Minneapolis, MN, with flexibility for part-time work from home. The Director of Sales will lead advertising sales strategy, overseeing the full sales cycle from pipeline development and prospecting through negotiation, closing, and renewal. This role will build and manage a high-performing ad sales team, set clear revenue targets, and implement sales processes, tools, and KPIs to drive predictable growth. The Director will cultivate and expand relationships with brands, agencies, and retail partners, delivering compelling presentations and data-driven proposals that showcase the value of Skillz Media’s retail media solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with marketing, product, and operations teams to refine offerings, optimize inventory and pricing, and ensure an excellent customer experience and strong campaign performance.
Qualifications
- Strong Sales and Ad Sales skills, including prospecting, pitching, negotiating, and closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals.
- Sales Operations experience, including forecasting, pipeline management, CRM usage, and building scalable processes and performance metrics.
- Customer Service skills focused on account management, issue resolution, and delivering a consistent, high-quality advertiser and retailer experience.
- Team Management capabilities, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and fostering an inclusive, goal-driven team culture.
- Business Development expertise in building strategic partnerships, expanding into new markets or verticals, and identifying new revenue opportunities.
- Proven track record in media, retail media, ad tech, or related digital advertising environment, with experience selling to brands and agencies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret campaign data, optimize performance, and communicate ROI in a clear, compelling way.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills across internal teams and external partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
