Role Description The Director of Sales is a full-time, on-site role based at the Country Inn & Suites Mankato Hotel and Conference Center. This role is responsible for developing and executing the property’s sales strategy to drive occupancy, rate, and revenue growth across key segments such as corporate, group, leisure, and extended stay. Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, maintaining relationships with existing clients, conducting site visits, preparing proposals, and negotiating contracts. The Director of Sales will analyze market trends, monitor competitor activity, and collaborate with the General Manager and revenue management teams to align pricing, promotions, and sales activities with property goals. The role also includes creating sales plans, managing sales reporting and forecasting, representing the property at networking events and trade shows, and supporting the front office and operations teams in delivering a cohesive guest experience.
Qualifications
- Strong sales and business development skills, including lead generation, prospecting, pipeline management, and closing deals.
- Experience in sales operations, including forecasting, reporting, contract management, and use of CRM or sales tools.
- Proven ability in team management, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated focus on customer service, relationship building, and client retention in a hospitality or service-driven environment.
- Previous hotel or hospitality sales leadership experience (e.g., Director of Sales, Sales Manager) strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality Management, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work on-site in Mankato, MN, and travel locally for client meetings, events, and networking as needed.
