About the Role
As part of continued expansion across the Southeast, they are seeking an experienced Regional Sales Manager to drive growth throughout Kentucky and Tennessee. This is an exciting opportunity for a sales professional with experience in the water utility, smart infrastructure, or municipal technology sectors to join an innovative organization at the forefront of digital transformation within the water industry.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a territory sales strategy to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
- Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities within municipal water utilities, water districts, and utility authorities.
- Build and maintain relationships with utility leaders, including General Managers, Utility Directors, Public Works Directors, Engineering Managers, and Metering Supervisors.
- Promote solutions related to smart metering, AMI, utility communications, telemetry, and data management technologies.
- Partner with engineering consultants, distributors, contractors, and industry influencers to drive project specifications and future opportunities.
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and discovery through proposal development, negotiation, and contract award.
- Maintain an accurate and active sales pipeline through CRM tools and reporting processes.
- Attend industry conferences, trade shows, customer meetings, and association events throughout the territory.
- Collaborate with internal technical and customer success teams to ensure successful solution implementation and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, infrastructure funding opportunities, and regulatory developments impacting utility investments.
- Deliver accurate sales forecasts and territory performance updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful business development or technical sales experience within the water, wastewater, utility, infrastructure, or industrial technology sectors.
- Demonstrated experience selling to municipal utilities or public sector organizations.
- Proven ability to manage long sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout Kentucky and Tennessee.
Required Skills
- Direct experience with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solutions.
- Knowledge of smart water meters, RF communications networks, cellular communications, telemetry, IoT technologies, or utility software platforms.
- Existing relationships with municipal water utilities and consulting engineering firms throughout Kentucky and Tennessee.
- Experience with capital equipment sales, infrastructure modernization projects, or digital utility initiatives.
- Familiarity with municipal procurement processes, RFPs, RFQs, and public bidding requirements.
