About the Role:
Skillforce is seeking General Laborer Apprentices for ongoing commercial projects throughout the Washington, DC area. This role involves assisting with site cleanup, material handling, waste removal, and renovation activities while learning to safely operate tools and equipment. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience, follow safety regulations, and develop the skills needed for advancement within the industry.
Schedule and Pay:
Pay: $24 per hour
Schedule: Overnight schedule- Monday through Thursday from 9pm to 7am.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices and willingness to learn.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years in the construction industry.
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
- Completion of OSHA 10-hour safety training or similar certification.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to obtain additional certifications related to environmental remediation or equipment operation.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting materials and equipment at job sites.
- Support waste collection, sorting, and disposal activities following safety and environmental protocols.
- Perform general site cleanup, including debris removal and maintaining organized work areas.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision to aid in remediation and maintenance tasks.
- Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to complete daily assignments and report any hazards or issues to supervisors.
- Participate in on-the-job training sessions to develop skills and knowledge relevant to the industry.
