Stocks General Contractors is seeking a reliable and experienced Skilled Laborer to support our field operations on civil construction and underground utility projects.
This role is ideal for someone with hands-on construction experience who can work independently, support crews efficiently, and contribute to high-quality project execution. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and ready to take on more responsibility in the field.
What You’ll Do
- Perform advanced labor tasks to support pipe crews and equipment operators
- Assist with installation of underground utilities including water, sewer, and storm systems
- Prepare trenches, grade areas, and support pipe placement
- Use hand tools and small equipment for cutting, measuring, and assembling materials
- Backfill and compact soil using proper methods and equipment
- Read basic plans, grades, and site layouts as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site
- Follow and enforce company safety standards
- 2 years of construction or civil/utility experience
- Strong understanding of job site operations and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors
- Experience in underground utilities or pipe installation
- Familiarity with grades, elevations, and basic plan reading
- Experience operating small equipment (jumping jack, plate compactor, etc.)
- OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Confined Space Training
- Trenching & Excavation Awareness
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical labor for 8–10 hours per day
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Full-Time | Hourly
- Monday–Friday (8–10 hour shifts; occasional weekends or night work required)
