Kitchen Coordinator & Center Support (Childcare Center)

Pay: Starting at $17 per hour, with higher starting compensation available based on relevant experience, education, and qualifications.

Schedule: Full-time or part-time opportunities available! Monday through Friday availability between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM is required, with flexibility for additional hours. A consistent schedule will be established upon hiring.

About the Position

Skies the Limit Academy is seeking a dependable, organized, and self-motivated individual to join our childcare team!

This position combines daily kitchen operations, facility cleaning and deep-cleaning responsibilities, and hands-on classroom support. We are looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and can independently manage their daily responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Our meal service includes catered lunches, simple breakfast preparation, and ready-to-serve snacks. Extensive cooking experience is not required, but food safety knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to follow Department of Health requirements are essential.

Please note: This is not exclusively a kitchen position. Cleaning and sanitation throughout the center, along with occasional direct classroom support, are regular and expected parts of the role.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Operations & Meal Service

• Prepare and serve simple breakfasts and snacks, and coordinate daily catered lunch service.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, temperature control, allergy, and dietary restriction requirements.
• Deliver meals and snacks to classrooms; wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and food service equipment.
• Maintain kitchen organization, food and supply inventory, and assist with grocery shopping, supply pickups, and purchasing.

Facility Cleaning & Sanitation

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including appliances, countertops, floors, and food preparation areas.
• Complete daily cleaning checklists and independently carry out assigned deep-cleaning tasks throughout the center between meal services.
• Clean and sanitize frequently touched surfaces, common areas, windowsills, doors, and other areas requiring periodic attention.
• Complete center laundry and assist with monitoring and replenishing cleaning supplies.
• Proactively identify and address cleaning needs without requiring constant direction.

Childcare Center & Classroom Support

• Assist classroom teachers with bathroom breaks and other necessary classroom coverage.
• Engage positively with children and assist with classroom activities and supervision as needed.
• Help clean and sanitize classroom materials, toys, and equipment.
• Assist with classroom opening, closing, and additional coverage as scheduled, when appropriately qualified and cleared, while maintaining applicable staffing ratios.
• Support teachers, administrative staff, and center leadership with additional daily operational needs.

Qualifications & Expectations

• Previous experience in childcare, food service, kitchen operations, or a similar environment is preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of food safety practices and willingness to complete required food safety training or certification.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Dependability, consistent attendance, and adherence to an established work schedule are essential.
• A proactive, flexible attitude and willingness to assist with kitchen, cleaning, and childcare responsibilities.
• Comfortable working directly with young children and supporting classroom staff.
• Reliable transportation is strongly preferred, as occasional grocery shopping, supply pickups, and center-related errands are part of the position.
• Ability to successfully complete required background checks and childcare clearances.
