What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician - 1st Shift position at SKF?
- Maintain 5S certification of work area and throughout facility.
- Perform EOL activities including: inspect and document all parameters associated with properly assembled parts. Assist Channel teams, as assigned, in determining root cause and implementing corrective actions.
- Compiles and processes an assortment of paperwork in support of customer and quality assurance requirements daily.
- Performs data entry duties for a variety of manufacturing/quality systems.
- Supports the RMA process workflow as necessary and as assigned.
- Supports and recommends edits and updates of new and existing documents as assigned.
- Measurement proficiency in at least 3 manual gauges i.e. C mic, calipers, digital indicators, etc.
- Perform receiving / inspection of raw materials and supplied components per established inspection plans.
- Responsible for supporting RMA receipt activities including generation of RMA nonconforming reports and activities as required.
- Confirm that gauges / masters utilized in the area are calibrated and functioning properly.
- Verifies that all gauging used are calibrated correctly.
- Performs in-process, first piece and lot inspection as required on process instructions.
- Performs random audits throughout the manufacturing process. Ensures inspection plans are being followed.
- Operate precision gauging such as Mahr Surf, MMQ, CMM, load bridge, hardness testers and vision system as required.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned or required.
- Meet and perform all applicable tasks as outlined in the policy and benefits manual.
- Must adhere to all SKF safety and policies.
- Audits a variety of Quality Control programs, systems and documents in support of the QA function.
- Coordinates containment activities as required.
- Participate on problem solving and/or continuous improvement activities on various plant issues as assigned.
- Assists with non-destructive testing (MPI, Nital Etch) as needed to achieve Level I or II certification.
- Self-starter with the ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization. Focus on both internal and external customers.
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. A two (2) year technical degree is preferred
- Experience: Precision tolerance manufacturing experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Must possess a high degree of computer literacy, clerical, organizational and communication skills.
- Other Requirements: American Society for Quality certification for Six Sigma green certification preferred.
- Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 25 lbs.
