What are the responsibilities and job description for the Test Support Engineer position at Sira Consulting, an Inc 5000 company?
- Maintain and troubleshoot test rigs (new & legacy systems)
- Diagnose issues in:
- Cabling, configurations, and communication interfaces
- Support test equipment builds (electrical basic mechanical setup)
- Execute test programs and analyze failures
- Perform firmware updates and PCB-level debugging
- Work with test equipment PCB (example: relay boards, mux/demux circuits, buffers, interface boards etc.)
- Conduct ICT / FCT testing
- Ensure reliable device communication (RS232, USB, Ethernet, etc.)
- Manage component obsolescence by recommending suitable replacements and workarounds
- Ensure proper integration and communication between devices, test PCs, and peripherals
- Execute test programs and analyze test results to identify failures and preliminary root causes
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams
Skills:
Strong foundation in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Hands-on experience with test equipment & debugging
- Knowledge of:
- RS232 / RS485 / USB
- Networking basics, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi
- Experience using oscilloscope, multimeter, and test tools
- Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot hardware issues
- Basic soldering skills (connectors, contacts, through-hole components, limited SMD)
- Basic understanding of Mechanical concepts, software operation(Test program execution, command line usage etc.)
