Summary of Position
Under direct supervision, the Interiors Trimmer will work closely with their Lead to determine a daily workload, report progress against their production goals, and assist in the training of other technicians. The Trimmer will be responsible for the trimming of complex interior assemblies from start to finish according to build specifications and process manuals in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”
Essential Duties
The starting salary range for this position is between $21 - 28 hourly. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Essential Duties
- Prepares raw parts for trimming in leather, cloth, or carpet
- Trims and installs leather, carpet, or cloth covers on a variety of parts and panels
- Assembles various finished components to complete sub-assemblies
- May provide technical leadership, lead teams on assignments, check quality and quality of work, troubleshoot Interior problems, and recommend solutions
- Provides feedback to Production Supervisor on performance and growth of each team member
- Trains new/lower grade technicians on processes and procedures
- Works with Lead and Production Supervisor to ensure production demands meets the specified production schedule
- Reports daily vehicle build status to Lead/Production Supervisor
- Ensures workflow is tracked and on time through daily meetings
- Assists in special projects and set up of fixtures as required
- May be required to perform Sewing or Leather Cutting tasks such as:
- Sewing all leather interiors, carpets, headlining, and leather luggage according to the build specification
- Operating the skiving and splitting machines, grommet press, and embossing machines
- Cutting all leather for specific cars, as well as foam, carpet, headlining, and sound insulation according to the build specification
- Hand-sewing decorative interior panels where required"
- Tracks progress and completed tasks through the practice of filling out checklists
- Works daily tasks lists set out by Lead/Production Supervisor
- Performs operational procedure according to required engineering specifications
- Reads specifications sheets and follow templates to ensure accuracy
- Monitors the inventory of leather and materials
- Reports any issues, delays, and all non-conformances in production line to Lead and ensure correction in a timely manner
- Reports any material shortage/part defect
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work environment
- Assists other team members as necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience trimming, cutting, and/or sewing high-quality leather interiors for Automotive, Aerospace, and/or Marine applications
- Intermediate knowledge of leather work, sewing, and automotive upholstery techniques
- Must pass Singer Interior Skills Test
- Certification and/or technical automotive program graduate
- Prior experience in aerospace or automotive manufacturing
- Prior experience in rapid growth environment
- Previous trimming experience
- Excellent time management with an ability to balance multiple projects and timelines and to meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a meticulous and precise manner with the desire for continuous improvement
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes
- Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment
- Effective written and verbal communications skills; ability to express ideas clearly and actively listen to others
- Team oriented, with a strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to multiple deadlines
