What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Associate position at Simpson Judge USA?
Every coverage dispute starts the same way, a claim comes in, the policy language gets read three different ways, and someone has to be right before it becomes a courtroom problem. Step into that seat at a globally ranked insurance litigation platform, where the work is complex from day one and the client relationships are yours to build, not inherit.
Job Purpose
Develop litigation strategy on insurance coverage disputes and class actions, analyzing policies, advising national and international insurers, and turning ambiguous language into clear, defensible positions before matters reach the courtroom.
What You'll Do
- Advise national and international insurers on complex coverage exposure across pollution, toxic tort, asbestos, construction defect, product liability, and E&O matters
- Analyze insurance policies and claims, structuring coverage positions clients can act on
- Draft motions, pleadings, discovery, briefs, and litigation correspondence
- Take and defend depositions across state and federal matters
- Appear at court hearings and mediations
- Supervise associates and paralegals as caseload responsibility grows
What You'll Need
- JD and admission to practice in New York (NY NJ admission preferred)
- 3-4 years of insurance coverage litigation experience, ideally involving product liability policies
- Meaningful deposition experience and state/federal court exposure
- Strong academic credentials and a clean, consistent work history
- The judgment to handle sensitive, time-pressured matters, often several at once
If you're a coverage attorney who wants the work to actually be interesting, and a firm with the infrastructure to back it, send your resume or reach out directly.
