KITCHEN MANAGER (KM) JOB DESCRIPTION:
Currently, most hours will be on the weekends and Monday, with the opportunity
to grow with our business.
In this position, you are responsible for all aspects of our kitchen operations. Your
central goal is to ensure production is met in a timely fashion while maintaining
safety standards. Your duties will include oversight of employees including hiring
and reviewing performance, inventory planning and purchasing, and identifying
opportunities for efficiency improvement.
As kitchen manager, you will be leading a team of about 3-4 individuals.
DUTIES IN ORDER OF PRIORITY
Being a leader for the kitchen team
Making sure we have proper levels of inventory to meet production using a
lean manufacturing method
Maintaining proper staffing for production days while meeting our
productivity rates
Identifying opportunities for efficiency improvement
MANAGING INVENTORY
Managing our inventory and correctly ordering food products is critical to our
operation and is one of the key responsibilities of the Kitchen Manager.
Minor details of this priority include:
Rotating products using a first-in-first-out method to ensure we keep fresh
products
Identifying upcoming menu changes to reduce levels of products that will be
discontinued
Purchasing and ordering products that will be needed for production
Working with the storefront team to determine correct levels to stock the
store
PROPER STAFFING FOR PRODUCTIONS DAYS
Keeping proper staffing will require a balance between being flexible with our
employees' hours and making sure the workload doesn't become overbearing.
Minor details of this priority include:
Maintaining the work schedule for production and monitoring change
requests
Identifying when we need to add additional staff members to meet
production and conducting the hiring process when needed
Communicating with employees on a weekly and quarterly basis (reviews) to
meet or exceed productivity rates
Maintaining a weekly productivity measure & setting goal time
Maintaining skills and safety training with staff
IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIES FOR EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENT
As a core philosophy, continual improvement is something that should always be
considered. A priority of duties is to identify opportunities for efficiency
improvements and providing possible solutions.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THIS ROLE
Maintaining all duties is the core competence of this position. As a Kitchen
Manager, there are always opportunities to go above and beyond to help develop
systems and processes from this level. Furthermore, the Kitchen Manager is in a
keen position to help with menu development and build team rapport.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 1 year management or leadership experience
ServSafe Certified or willing to obtain
Pursuing degree in business management, operations, restaurant
management, or similar
