Director of Aftercare Services

Description

The Director of Aftercare Services supports the Preschool Principal in ensuring smooth school operations and compliance with quality, health, and safety standards while overseeing all Preschool and School Age aftercare services. This role leads after school programming, supervises staff, ensures student well being, and fosters a safe, developmentally appropriate environment. As the primary administrator during aftercare hours, the Director collaborates with families, faculty, and school leadership and assumes operational decision making in the Principal’s absence. 

Responsibilities

• Utilize technology platforms, including Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Seesaw, and other learning management systems, to support instructional and program operations.
• Oversees the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and performance management of enrichment leaders to support a diverse and engaging aftercare program  
• Prepares and maintains annual budgets and monitors expenditures for aftercare services, including forecasting program needs, monitoring expenses, and ensuring effective use of resources 
• Oversees payroll related processes for hourly aftercare services employees, ensuring accurate timekeeping and timely payroll submission 
• Responsible for maintaining program supplies and materials, including the selection, purchasing, preparation, and provision of nutritious snacks for children in aftercare services 
• Oversees all substitute staffing for aftercare services, including recruitment, scheduling, placement tracking, and record maintenance, ensuring adequate coverage and uninterrupted program operations 
• Assist the Principal of the Preschool with daily program operations, scheduling, and coordination of weekly activities during and after school 
• Monitor and provide feedback on aftercare enrichment leaders' and preschool teachers’ lesson plans, instructional documentation, and use of any learning management systems. 
• Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional support to aftercare services enrichment leaders, teachers, and staff. 
• Maintain the program calendar and track staff professional development requirements and completion.
• Create and schedule in house and off campus field trips and activities for the aftercare program
• Assist with state licensing and accreditation reporting, documentation, and compliance requirements for the aftercare and Preschool program
• Serve as the Administrator on duty in the absence of the Principal of the Preschool, ensuring continuity of operations. 
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues while demonstrating strong organizational and problem solving skills and a teachable spirit.
• Demonstrate knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
• Maintain a passion for early childhood education and supporting whole child growth and development.
• Together with the Preschool Principal, schedule and conduct monthly staff meetings for aftercare enrichment leaders and staff

• Irregular schedule changes may be required, including nights and/or weekends

• Bachelor’s Degree required, or Master's preferred 
• Has experience working in a structured preschool setting
• Working knowledge of Early Childhood Education 
• Must have effective verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

• Can walk, run, and crawl from time to time 
• Can lift up to 30 pounds
