Job Overview
Experienced, safety-focused Flatbed Tow Truck Driver / Service Call Technician responsible for operating a flatbed tow truck to recover, transport, and deliver vehicles and equipment, and performing on-site roadside services (jump starts, tire changes, lockouts, fuel delivery, winching). Ensures secure loading/unloading, completes required documentation, provides professional customer service, and maintains vehicle and equipment in safe working condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a flatbed tow truck to recover and transport cars, light trucks, motorcycles, and small equipment.
- Respond to service calls and perform roadside assistance: jump starts, tire changes, fuel delivery, lockouts, battery testing, and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
- Load, secure, tie down, and unload vehicles using proper chains, straps, and wheel lifts; use winches and towing accessories correctly.
- Assess scene safety, direct traffic if needed, and follow all relevant DOT, state, and local laws and safety protocols.
- Inspect and maintain tow truck and tools; perform daily vehicle checks and basic preventative maintenance; report mechanical issues promptly.
- Complete accurate paperwork: tow reports, manifests, invoices, and electronic logs; process payments and work orders when required.
- Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, law enforcement, and impound facilities; provide clear estimates and explain services.
- Assist with impound, storage, and vehicle inventory procedures as needed.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record; ability to pass background check and drug/alcohol screening.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to use towing equipment safely.

- Physical stamina and ability to lift 50 lbs, work in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
