What You'll Do
- Lead all core accounting operations, including month end close, compliance, audits, revenue accounting, accounts payable and receivable, treasury, and payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and operational excellence.
- Manage and develop the accounting team, providing mentorship, building organizational capabilities, and helping shape future hiring and team structure.
- Approach challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset, balancing strong financial controls with business needs and identifying ways to support growth without creating unnecessary barriers.
- Design and implement scalable accounting policies, controls, and processes, while leveraging automation and AI-driven tools to improve efficiency and accuracy. Serve as a key champion for technology adoption across the finance function.
- Communicate complex accounting concepts in a clear, accessible way, helping stakeholders understand the business impact behind the numbers.
- Partner closely with FP&A, Revenue Operations, and cross functional leaders to provide financial insights that support strategic decision making.
- Lead high-impact initiatives, including ERP and billing system implementations, optimization of the company’s finance technology stack, and support for fundraising, investor diligence, and other strategic transactions.
- Continuously evaluate team structure, workflows, and responsibilities as automation reduces manual tasks, enabling the organization to focus on higher-value analysis, judgment, and business partnership.
- 15 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience as a Controller or in a comparable role with broad accounting ownership.
- Active CPA license required.
- Prior startup experience, with a proven ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments.
- A builder's mindset with a passion for continuous improvement, process optimization, and organizational scale.
- Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, including significant hands-on experience with ASC 606, ideally within SaaS, subscription, or recurring revenue business models.
- Strong proficiency with modern accounting systems and ERP platforms, such as NetSuite or QuickBooks, along with enthusiasm for adopting emerging technologies and AI-enabled solutions.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders across remote and hybrid teams.
- Big Four or public accounting experience.
- Experience with equity compensation accounting.
- Knowledge of ASC 842 lease accounting.
- Background in fintech, bookkeeping services, or B2B SaaS environments.
- ERP and financial systems implementation experience.
- Experience supporting fundraising efforts, investor due diligence, and strategic financing activities.
