Data Scientist (Retail / Shopper Analytics)
Job Summary
We are seeking mid-level Data Scientists to join a high-impact analytics engagement focused on leveraging Kroger Collaborative Cloud (KCC) data. This role will analyze shopper transaction, basket, and loyalty data to generate actionable insights that influence promotions, pricing, assortment, and shopper strategy.
You will work closely with Customer Development, Shopper Marketing, and Analytics teams to translate business questions into data-driven decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze large-scale shopper transaction, basket, and loyalty datasets
Generate insights on:
Promotion effectiveness and optimization
Shopper behavior and trip dynamics
Basket analysis, cross-purchase, and halo effects
Pricing and assortment strategy
Translate business questions into analytical frameworks and hypotheses
Deliver insights through dashboards, reports, and presentations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align KPIs and business logic
Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Identify new analytical opportunities within KCC data
Document methodologies and ensure knowledge transfer
Required Qualifications
6 years of experience in Data Science / Analytics
Strong experience with SQL and Python
Hands-on experience with large-scale transaction or shopper data
Experience in Retail / CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) domain
Strong analytical thinking with focus on business impact
Experience creating dashboards using Power BI, Excel, or similar tools
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Kroger Collaborative Cloud (KCC) or 84.51° Stratum
Familiarity with Nielsen / Circana (IRI) data
Experience in Shopper Marketing or Customer Development analytics
Consulting or project-based analytics experience.
