Drain Technician

 Objective:

Technicians have multiple responsibilities including running, repairing, and maintaining all drain cleaning equipment. Additionally, they are tasked with building relationships with coworkers and customers to foster the growth of their personal customer base. This involves upselling goods and services to maximize time spent on a job and prevent additional service calls for customers. Moreover, technicians must adhere to department standards regarding tool lists, vehicle organization, and maintaining standard material stock. They contribute to the consistency of the group by collaborating harmoniously with coworkers to ensure uniformity in service delivery. Furthermore, they cultivate an open work environment that promotes cooperation and teamwork while avoiding divisive behaviors. Ultimately, technicians aim to achieve customer satisfaction on every job through effective communication and dedicated effort. 

Requirements:

• 40 hours per week
• Workday 7:30 to 5pm or job completion
• 30 minute lunch
• Overtime dependent on workload but likely
• On call once every 4-6 weeks, on call Friday 5pm through the following
• Incentive tech pay eligible

Accountability 

• Performance Review: Your annual performance review will be conducted based on your performance throughout the year.
• Weekly Department Meeting: We will hold weekly department meetings to discuss safety protocols and service system processes.
• Weekly One-on-One/Ride Along: Each week, you will have a one-on-one session or a ride-along opportunity.
• Monthly Meeting with Production Manager: You will have a monthly meeting with the production manager to address any personal concerns and review your performance.
• Embracing Feedback: Embrace feedback graciously, learn from mistakes, and continuously strive for improvement in performance.

• Technicians must ensure customer satisfaction through diligent work and effective communication. 
• Prioritizing safety by strictly adhering to all relevant safety procedures while on duty.
• Ensuring timely completion of every job by promptly invoicing and closing out tasks on a daily basis.
• Fostering a positive work environment by collaborating with coworkers and dispatchers.
• Maintaining consistent work production to meet or exceed monthly revenue goals of over $20,000 per month (10 out of the LTM).
• Actively engaging in professional development activities to continuously enhance skills and knowledge.

• Setting a high standard of excellence in the workforce and contributing to the overall success of the team.
• Must Hold a Current NM journeyman plumbers license.

Proficiency 

• They should possess the knowledge required to effectively operate, repair, and maintain cable machines, understanding the appropriate machine and blade selection for different tasks.
• They should be capable of performing basic plumbing repairs, including toilet installation and repair, as well as installing and repairing kitchen and lavatory faucets, which may be necessary during drain services.
• They should be proficient in operating or willing to learn how to operate camera inspection equipment to ensure efficient completion of tasks and customer satisfaction.
• Maintaining a low incidence of warranty work is important, achieved through efficiency to minimize lost time and revenue.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. 

Structure 

• Daily maintenance of vehicle stock is required, ensuring replenishment of used items from the previous day.
• Work should be conducted methodically and thoroughly, with a commitment to completing tasks either on time or ahead of schedule.
• Proactive scheduling is essential, requiring advance planning to ensure preparedness for upcoming tasks.
• It is the responsibility of the technician to maintain cleanliness at both the vehicle and jobsite, promoting safety, efficiency, and leaving the site cleaner than it was found.
• A safety-first approach to work is imperative, with no compromise on safety measures even if it means not skipping steps to complete a job, prioritizing the safety of both the technician and the customer.

COMMUNICATION  

• Demonstrate effectiveness in interpersonal communication by providing clear and coherent explanations to both customers and co-workers.
• Maintain regular contact with the office and colleagues via phone and email, ensuring availability when needed.
• Practice active listening with customers and co-workers, demonstrating care by restating points made and acknowledging their perspectives.
• Respond promptly to instructions and inquiries, avoiding conflict escalation by addressing issues while they are still manageable.
• Written communication should be clear and articulate, leaving no ambiguity regarding job tasks performed or communication exchanges.
