A well-established engineering-driven organization serving the commercial, institutional, and industrial markets is seeking a Field Applications Engineer to support mechanical system design, specification development, and technical consulting activities throughout Western Pennsylvania.
This position operates at the intersection of engineering, customer engagement, and technical sales support. The role is heavily focused on working directly with MEP consulting engineers, facility owners, school districts, mechanical contractors, and maintenance teams to develop engineered solutions across hydronic HVAC systems, steam systems, compressed air systems, and broader utility/process infrastructure applications.
The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation in commercial mechanical systems along with the ability to build credibility with consulting engineers and project stakeholders. This is a field-oriented role with a balanced mix of relationship management, engineering consultation, equipment application support, and project coordination.
The organization is looking for someone who enjoys being in front of customers, solving technical challenges, influencing equipment specifications, and supporting projects from conceptual design through implementation.
Key Responsibilities
The Field Applications Engineer will partner closely with consulting engineers, facility operators, contractors, and owners to support the design and specification of commercial and industrial mechanical systems. The role includes driving equipment specifications, supporting hydronic and HVAC system applications, conducting technical presentations and lunch-and-learns, troubleshooting existing systems, and serving as a trusted technical advisor throughout the project lifecycle. This individual will also collaborate with manufacturing partners, stay current on evolving industry technologies, support project documentation efforts, and maintain strong visibility within professional engineering organizations and the regional mechanical engineering community.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- 2 years of experience within commercial HVAC, mechanical systems, hydronics, or industrial/process equipment environments
- Strong understanding of HVAC system applications, hydronic systems, steam systems, and mechanical equipment selection
- Experience supporting consulting engineers, contractors, facility owners, or technical sales/application engineering initiatives
- Ability to manage multiple projects while delivering strong customer communication and technical support
