The Staff Accountant serves Sight & Sound by providing accurate and timely financial information that creates value and inspires action with excellence and integrity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for understanding key operational processes, developing and maintaining effective systems and controls, and producing accurate and timely financial and analytical reports.
- Assist with recording, reporting, reconciling, analyzing, and problem-solving transactions relating to, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, and general ledger.
- Assist the Accounting Manager in the annual budget process.
- Ensure compliance of governmental and other organizational regulations.
- Coordinate and assist with workload for other accounting team members as assigned to ensure coverage.
- Provide excellent customer service by anticipating and meeting the needs of Sight & Sound stakeholders.
- Assist the Accounting Manager in the month-end close process and the release of the monthly financial statement.
- Support in creating a team environment of high trust, character, commitment, and competence.
Prerequisites:
- High level of accounting knowledge, research and analytical skills, and include a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Initiative, passion, and skill to engage with accounting software and technology – including Dynamics 365, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office (especially Microsoft Excel)
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to engage with others in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where a high level of accuracy is required
- Ability to discreetly handle confidential information
- Willingness to work more than 40 hours/week during busy times of the year (as needed)
