Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting professional to oversee and enhance the company’s core accounting operations. This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities, including revenue recognition, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory management, and general ledger functions, while ensuring accurate and timely month, quarter, and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate will play a key role in evaluating and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, as well as identifying system enhancements that increase efficiency and scalability as the organization grows. This individual will also support tax compliance activities, conduct financial analysis and reporting, and collaborate cross-functionally to support business initiatives. The position requires a strong technical accounting background, experience working with GAAP principles, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Evaluate and lead the continuous improvement of the Company's accounting practices, policies, control procedures, and system enhancements
- Manage and oversee the accounting function and daily operations, including revenue recognition, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory management and all other GL functions
- Responsible for month, quarter, and year-end accounting close processes
- Research, analyze, and propose new systems to create efficiencies and streamline our processes
- Provide accounting support for ad-hoc reporting and analysis as necessary
- Review and reconcile all tax obligations including federal and state income tax, as well as sales/use tax
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7 years of relevant experience - Private Industry experience is adequate
- Experience in rapidly growing start-up environments or early-stage companies preferred
- Strong technical accounting skills and experience with GAAP accounting rules, including revenue recognition
- Experience with Quickbooks and/or other accounting software
- Experience with inventory management
- Ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality and professionalism
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills, with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and proactive with a strong work ethic
