Siddiqui Engineering and Surveying, P.C. (SEPC), is a multidisciplinary engineering, environmental, and land surveying consulting firm located in Hicksville, Long Island, has an open full-time position for a Survey Crew Chief/Survey Technician to join our growing team.
A qualified candidate must have experience in all types of land surveying using robotic total stations, levels and GPS and be able to read and interpret surveys maps and construction plans. The ideal candidate must have strong organizational skills and be adaptable working effectively on a variety of surveying projects alongside planning, engineering, and surveying team members. The candidate must be willing and be able to work both in the field and in the office without any reservations. The candidate will work under direct supervision of a Survey Manager to perform field and office work.
The responsibilities will include performing the field work, processing field data utilizing appropriate software, preparing and finalizing survey drawings utilizing Carlson Software and AutoCAD, and other necessary tasks. The candidate must have the ability to perform preliminary reviews of own work. The candidate must have knowledge of the specific tasks associated with completing various projects including Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, As-built Surveys, ALTA/NSPS Surveys, ROW Surveys, Flood Elevation Certificates, etc.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Three (3) to five (5) years of field and office experience performing surveys
- Knowledge in operating of land surveying equipment including robotic total stations, data collectors, GNSS receivers, terrestrial 3D laser scanners, automatic and digital levels to gather data for various surveys including boundary, topographic, and construction layout
- Knowledge of Carlson software and AutoCAD to prepare survey drawings
- Strong mathematical skills to prepare stakeout computations and slope calculations
- Complete neat and orderly field notes with accurate measurements for land survey operations
- Knowledge of or ability to learn New York City and New York State Department of Transportation Land Surveying and Mapping standards
- Ability to process and adjust field data
- Understand and implement company field methods and procedures
- Review and check drawings for accuracy and ensure they meet company and industry standards
- Research survey records and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries
- Oversee the daily maintenance of survey equipment, vehicle maintenance, and supplies maintenance
- Entries in the daily Survey Logbook/Sheets
- Organized and self-motivated with good communication skills, computer literate and strong knowledge of the field equipment being used
- Responsible for one’s own safety and the wellbeing of others in the field. Must adhere to safety guidelines and represent the firm in a professional manner
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Valid, current driver’s license required
- Able to work outdoors year-round in all types of weather conditions and environments
- Available to travel/stay out of town for work as needed
