Summary
The Lead, Membership Product Development is on a team that is responsible for the development of membership products, benefits and features that advance the mission and strategic goals of SHRM. This role leads cross-functional collaboration with Membership, Marketing, Finance, IT, Web Experience and e-Commerce to bring new products, features and benefits to market. This role helps with identifying market needs, conceptualizing new offerings, and optimizing existing products for maximum impact and engagement with our diverse membership base. New products in development include new tiers of SHRM membership, a new SHRM flagship app, an enhanced online community platform, and more.
This role reports to the Director, Membership Product Development.

The hiring range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. Responsibilities
Market Analysis & Needs Assessment
- Understand, interpret and apply market research that identifies emerging trends, consumer needs, and competitive landscape relevant to the association’s mission.
- Analyze member and consumer feedback to inform product ideation and enhancement.
- Scrutinize and Prepare business cases, product briefs, and feasibility studies for new product proposals.
- Develop innovative product concepts that address member needs, pain points, and feedback and align with the association’s strategic objectives.
- Lead cross-functional teams through the product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch.
- Develop and document product requirements.
- Manage timelines, budgets, meetings and resources to ensure successful product delivery.
- Support go-to-market strategies, including positioning, pricing, and promotional plans.
- Monitor product performance using KPIs and analytics; recommend improvements based on data-driven insights.
- Work closely with internal teams (Membership, IT, eCommerce, Web Experience, Finance, CX, Marketing ) and external partners/vendors to ensure a seamless end to end member journey.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement and secure buy-in for product initiatives
- Ensure all products meet regulatory, ethical, and quality standards relevant to the non-profit sector.
Education & Experience Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in product development or product management, preferably within a membership organization, association, or mission-driven environment. Experience supporting HR-related products, services, or audiences is a plus.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including presentations to audiences.
- Ability to effectively leverage artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and improve overall work quality.
- Experience with product development processes, tools and analytics platforms.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Zoom/Teams.
- An added plus if proficient with Slack, Monday.com, or Figma.

Hybrid Position (3 Days In-Office, 2 Days Remote):
- This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with Tuesday through Thursday in office and Monday and Friday remote. Employees must be available during standard business hours, with core hours beginning between 8:00AM – 9:00AM and concluding between 5:00PM – 6:00PM.
