SHR Talent is partnering with a nationally recognized logistics group based out of Garden City, GA in its search for an Operations Manager to lead day-to-day warehouse and distribution operations, optimize supply chain performance, and drive continuous improvement across transportation, inventory, and fulfillment functions out of their Suffolk, VA location.
This Operations Manager will be based in the Suffolk, VA and will own operational Key Performance Indicators, safety and compliance, labor management, and customer service for high-volume e-commerce and retail distribution centers. The ideal candidate for the Operations Manager role will have proven logistics leadership, hands-on warehouse management experience, expertise with Warehouse Management Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning systems, and a track record of improving productivity, reducing costs, and meeting Service-Level Agreements.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily warehouse, distribution, and transportation operations for a high-volume logistics facility in the Savannah, GA Metro area
- Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including order accuracy, on-time shipments, throughput, dock productivity, inventory accuracy, and labor efficiency
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and frontline staff; manage workforce planning, scheduling, and labor cost control
- Implement and enforce safety programs, OSHA compliance, and company-specific safety policies to maintain a safe work environment
- Manage inventory control, cycle counts, stock reconciliation, and shrink reduction strategies
- Coordinate inbound receiving, put-away, picking, packing, staging, and outbound shipping processes to meet customer Service-Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Optimize supply chain processes using Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies and lead kaizen events
- Maintain and improve Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP) utilization, including system configuration, reporting, and integration with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and carrier systems
- Build relationships with carriers, Third Party Logistic (3PL) partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve operational issues and improve service levels
- Prepare operational reports, budgets, forecasts, and capital project justifications for senior leadership
- Lead change management initiatives for process improvements, technology rollouts, and capacity expansions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred, equivalent experience considered
- 5 years of progressive operations or logistics management experience
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, or 3PL environment, strongly preferred
- Proven ability to manage multi-shift warehouse operations, 100k sq ft facilities, and large seasonal labor forces
- Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
- Demonstrated success improving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including On-Time In-Full (OTIF), order accuracy, inventory accuracy, throughput, and labor productivity
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, and root-cause analysis tools
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with a focus on customer service
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, Department of Transportation (DOT) rules, and logistics compliance standards
- Ability to work onsite in the Savannah, GA Metro area with occasional travel, as needed
