Shohola Veterinary Hospital is looking for a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our team. You’ll help provide excellent patient care while supporting our Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians. You’ll play an important role in bringing comfort to our furry patients and ensuring the smooth running of our facility.
A key part of this position ismaintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary hospital. If you’re organized, detail oriented and quick on your feet, we’d like to meet you. Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care and handling of dogs and cats
- Weigh, feed, bathe, and monitor patients
- Clean and disinfect exam rooms and treatment areas between patients and as needed
- Clean and maintain kennels, cages, equipment, and hospital areas
- Restock supplies and keep work areas organized
- Assist Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians with patient care
- Restrain animals using fear-free and cat-friendly techniques
- Observe and report changes in patient health or behavior
- Prepare and label laboratory samples
- Maintain accurate records and logs
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients
- Assist with emergencies when needed
Qualifications
- Compassionate and caring attitude
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable working with dogs and cats
- Dependable and willing to perform cleaning and sanitation duties
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Veterinary Assistant certification is a plus, but not required
