Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and observe patients’ health status, including vital signs and overall well-being
- Administer medications and manage medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support clients with specialized needs such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, hospice care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities
- Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for accurate record keeping
- Use equipment like Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers and catheter care when necessary
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe living environment
Skills
- Strong patient observation skills to detect changes in health or behavior promptly
- Experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures related to home health care
- Certification in CPR and first aid is preferred to ensure safety during emergencies
- Ability to work independently while following care plans and medical directives
- Compassionate communication skills to build trust with clients and their families
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
