We are a locally owned painting company based in Shingle Springs, CA, serving residential and commercial clients throughout the foothills region and beyond. We take pride in quality work, clean job sites, and a professional experience for every client. We're looking for a motivated apprentice painter to join our crew and learn the trade hands-on alongside experienced journeymen.
No prior painting experience is required — what matters most is a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to showing up and doing the job right. This position is available part-time on an as-needed basis or full-time. Employees begin with a 6-month probationary period. Work is performed in Shingle Springs and surrounding communities within approximately 50 miles.
Responsibilities
- Assist journeyman painters with surface preparation — scraping, sanding, patching, caulking, masking, and priming
- Transport and organize tools, materials, and equipment at job sites
- Set up and break down drop cloths, ladders, and protective coverings
- Apply paint, primer, and coatings under the guidance of experienced crew members
- Maintain cleanliness of job sites, tools, and equipment throughout and after each project
- Follow all safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment
- Communicate respectfully with clients, crew members, and supervisors on site
- Learn and develop proficiency in brush, roller, and spray techniques over time
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license, insurance, and reliable personal transportation — travel between job sites is required daily
- Ability to take direction and work as part of a team
- Punctual, dependable, and self-motivated
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work from ladders and elevated surfaces
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate clearly
- Prior painting or construction experience is a plus, but not required
Compensation & employment details
- Starting pay: $20-22/hr
- Raise schedule: Competitive, performance-based raises available
- Employment type: Part-time as-needed or full-time at-will
- Probationary period: 6 months for full-time positions
- Service area: Shingle Springs, CA and surrounding communities within ~50 miles
