Job Overview – Controller – 34487

Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function and oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and accounting operations. This is a key leadership role responsible for the accuracy and integrity of financial information while partnering with executive and operational leadership to support business performance and growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team while driving accountability and continuous improvement.
• Oversee month-end close, financial statement preparation, bank reconciliations, and accounting operations.
• Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Partner with executive leadership on annual budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
• Provide executive reporting and dashboards covering revenue, gross profit, EBITDA, cash flow, WIP, A/R aging, and budget-to-actual results.
• Oversee job costing, project profitability, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, labor efficiency, and progress billing.
• Manage accounts receivable and collections while partnering with operations to resolve billing issues.
• Oversee subcontractor payments, invoice approvals, 1099 reporting, lien compliance, and related processes.
• Partner with Payroll/HR to ensure accurate calculation and payment of bonuses, commissions, and incentive compensation.
• Coordinate with external CPA firms and auditors on tax, audit, and compliance matters.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems, processes, reporting, and financial controls.
  
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory experience.
• Construction or restoration industry accounting experience required.
• Insurance restoration, TPA, or Contractor Connection experience preferred.
• Strong experience with job costing, WIP, project accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Experience with subcontractor payments, lien waivers, and compliance documentation preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
• Experience with NetSuite, Paylocity, DASH, or Albi is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively to executive and non-financial stakeholders.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and payroll information.
