What are the responsibilities and job description for the Strategic Relationship Manager position at Sherlock Investigations, Inc.?
A Career Opportunity for Professionals Who Already Understand the Claims or Legal Environment
You already know the people, pressures, and professional standards that shape insurance claims and litigation. Now imagine using that experience to build trusted relationships, solve meaningful client problems, and develop a career with substantial long-term earning potential.
Sherlock Investigations is selectively adding a Strategic Relationship Manager to represent our growing portfolio of investigative, claims intelligence, and litigation intelligence services.
This is not a conventional product sales position. It is a relationship-centered professional role for someone who can become a credible, valued resource to insurance claims professionals, attorneys, and other sophisticated business clients.
Who We Are
Sherlock is Michigan’s largest independent provider of insurance claims investigative and litigation intelligence services. For decades, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, self-insured organizations, defense law firms, corporations, and other professional organizations have trusted us when facts matter and the stakes are high.
We have evolved beyond the traditional investigative agency model. Our clients rely on Sherlock for objective, defensible information that helps them evaluate claims, strengthen litigation strategy, manage risk, and support well-documented decisions. Our growth is driven by the increasing significance and complexity of the matters our clients entrust to us.
The Background We Are Seeking
Relevant industry experience is an important qualification, not merely a preference. Strong candidates will have worked within, or provided professional services to, insurance claims departments, attorneys, law firms, or closely related organizations.
Especially relevant backgrounds include:
- Claims adjusting or carrier claims operations
- Insurance defense paralegal or legal support
- Litigation support or legal services account management
- SIU, risk, TPA, or related claims functions
Also potentially well aligned:
- Court reporting, IME, bill review, or record retrieval
- Nurse case management or vocational rehabilitation
- Professional services sales serving attorneys or claims departments
- Other B2B roles with comparable client exposure
Experience centered primarily on law enforcement, security, consumer sales, or unrelated industries is not the background we are seeking for this position. Investigative experience alone does not substitute for experience serving attorneys, claims organizations, or comparable professional clients.
The Opportunity
Become the person clients trust when an important matter requires the right intelligence partner.
What You Will Do
You will work closely with Sherlock’s leadership and service teams to deepen existing client relationships and thoughtfully introduce Sherlock to prospective clients. Success will come from credibility, consistency, curiosity, and sustained relationship development, not high-pressure selling.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop trusted relationships with claims professionals, insurance defense attorneys, and other decision-makers.
- Learn how clients manage claims and litigation, identify unmet needs, and connect those needs to the appropriate Sherlock capabilities.
- Strengthen and expand existing accounts through useful conversations, responsive follow-up, and disciplined account development.
- Introduce prospective clients to Sherlock through meetings, educational content, industry events, and professional networking.
- Represent Sherlock’s standards, judgment, and reputation in every client interaction.
- Maintain organized CRM records and coordinate effectively with leadership, marketing, and operations.
The Person Who Will Thrive Here
- Positive and genuinely personable
- Clients enjoy speaking with you. You bring energy, warmth, and professionalism without becoming overly familiar.
- Credible and intellectually curious
- You ask thoughtful questions, learn complex services, and can hold substantive conversations with experienced professionals.
- Relationship-oriented
- You prefer earning trust over time to chasing quick transactions, and you understand that reputation compounds.
- Organized and self-directed
- You follow through, manage details, use systems consistently, and remain accountable without constant supervision.
What Sherlock Offers
- A respected platform and differentiated professional services offering, not a commodity product.
- Structured training in Sherlock’s services, methodology, markets, and consultative relationship approach.
- Direct access to senior leadership and experienced operational professionals.
- A competitive base salary, commission, performance incentives, and a path to substantial uncapped earning potential.
- The opportunity to develop and manage a meaningful portfolio of strategic client relationships.
- A long-term career within an established, independent, and expanding Michigan company.
