Schedule
Hours: 50 hours/week
Day Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Night Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Coverage Needed:
Night Shift: Thursday through Sunday
Day Shift: Friday through Monday

About the Opportunity
Sheakley is seeking experienced Safety Technicians for a fast-moving, short-term shutdown project at a General Motors facility in Flint, MI.
This is an excellent opportunity for safety professionals who are available for immediate project work and have experience supporting industrial shutdowns, turnarounds, outages, or high-activity manufacturing environments.
The Safety Technician will provide hands-on field safety oversight during critical shutdown activities, helping ensure contractor work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OSHA, site-specific, and company safety requirements.
This role is best suited for someone who is proactive, confident in the field, and comfortable stepping into a fast-paced industrial environment where real-time hazard recognition and clear communication matter.
What You'll Be Doing
Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety standards
Conduct field audits, inspections, and hazard assessments throughout the shift
Identify unsafe conditions and help drive immediate corrective action
Support supervisors, contractors, and site leadership with safe work practices
Maintain a visible safety presence during active shutdown operations
Document safety observations, incidents, near misses, and corrective actions
Reinforce jobsite expectations and help reduce risk during critical work activities
Ideal Candidate Background
Experience supporting industrial shutdowns, turnarounds, outages, or manufacturing projects
Strong understanding of construction and industrial safety practices
Comfortable working extended 12-hour shifts
Strong communication skills and a confident field presence
Ability to identify hazards quickly and address issues professionally
Reliable transportation to and from the site
Previous experience at General Motors facilities is highly preferred
