What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist- Full Time position at Great Lakes Safety Training Center?
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Safety Specialist promotes GLSTC programs and services by presenting curriculum in a positive, dynamic manner and by encouraging customers, students and potential customers to live and work safely every day.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Demonstrate an unparalleled passion for facilitating instructor-led safety training sessions.
2. Demonstrate exceptional facilitation skills when working with adult learners by fostering engagement, encouraging participation, adapting instructional methods to diverse learning styles, and creating a positive, learner-centered training environment.
3. Serve as a safety subject matter expert by applying extensive knowledge of occupational safety and health principles, regulations, and industry best practices to deliver high-quality training, support customer needs, and enhance program effectiveness
4. Conduct all safety training course sessions according to the developed content/session duration.
5. Ensure training facility/classroom is prepared and organized.
6. Assure all GLSTC programs are in accordance with approved policies and procedures, legal requirements and best practices.
7. Meet with the Director of Operations as necessary to ensure all policies and courses follow guidelines.
8. Assist with daily housekeeping to assure all classrooms and facilities are clean, free of hazards, and students’ needs are satisfied.
9. Assist with daily facility configuration set up and tear down in preparation for meetings and training sessions.
10. Assist other GLSTC personnel in promoting the programs for use both at our facility and at our customers’ sites.
11. Travel as necessary, up to 50% of primary job functions, for the purposes of conducting training and building strategic partnerships.

INTERNAL / EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Report to GLSTC Director of Operations. Maintain frequent contact with the rest of the staff. Communicate positively with training participants, contractors, customers, staff and the general public.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of related work experience is preferred as a minimum for this position. Use Microsoft PowerPoint, computer-based training materials and additional media to update and/or develop training materials.
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:
Average, ordinary visual and auditory acuity necessary to maintain a training environment, including the ability to passionately deliver instructor led training sessions, visually inspect documents, engage with participants, operate machinery and manage students in training and testing functions.
Physical strength is required to sit/stand for the purpose of maintaining a training environment, transport training materials weighing up to 50 lbs for offsite training sessions and set up or adjustment of training rooms. Agility and flexibility and ability to climb through confined spaces required for the hands-on portion of training.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
