Location: Onsite at Manufacturing plant - Mooresville, NC US
Work Times: 8:00am to 4:30pm (Monday to Friday). A degree of flexibility will be needed at peak periods.
Summary and Purpose
SHD are at the leading edge of advanced composites technology and manufacture a wide range of high performance composite materials. With the recent exciting acquisition by Cambium Biomaterials, Inc. the Company is committed to rapidly accelerating product and footprint development and growth. This role direct supports the development plan.
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for providing full cycle HR support for our growing manufacturing operation in North Carolina and Oklahoma. This role partners closely with plant leadership to support business scaling, workforce planning, recruiting, employee relations, payroll, benefits, and compliance. The HR Manager serves as the primary on site HR resource, ensuring consistent, compliant, and employee focused HR practices.

An experienced HR professional capable of managing day-to-day personnel issues and leading the development of the human resource side of business growth
Key Responsibilities
Workforce Planning and Business Scaling
- Partner with leadership to support organizational growth, workforce planning, and headcount management
- Develop and implement HR processes that scale with business growth
- Analyze workforce metrics (turnover, recruiting efficiency, absenteeism) and recommend improvements
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage full‑cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried roles
- Partner with hiring managers to define job requirements and hiring strategies
- Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and new hire training programs
- Maintain strong relationships with staffing agencies, recruiters, local workforce programs, and trade schools
Payroll & HR Administration
- Oversee bi‑weekly payroll processing in coordination with payroll providers and finance
- Ensure accurate timekeeping, wage compliance, and payroll audits
- Maintain HRIS data, employee records, and reporting
- Support annual audits and internal controls related to payroll and HR
- Reviewing and maintaining staff policies and handbook in conjunction with applicable state laws.
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and wellness offerings
- Serve as primary employee contact for benefits questions and enrollment
- Coordinate open enrollment, vendor communication, and benefits education
- Partner with brokers and vendors to resolve issues and improve offerings
Leaves of Absence & Compliance
- Manage all leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation, military leave, and state‑specific leave requirements
- Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, EEO, wage & hour)
- Maintain leave tracking and accurate documentation
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Provide employee relations support, including conflict resolution and investigations
- Coach managers on performance management, corrective action, and disciplinary processes
- Support engagement initiatives, communications, and culture‑building efforts
- Assist with performance review cycles and talent development programs
Other
- To undertake any other duties from time to time as can be reasonably requested by the company.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Hands‑on experience with recruiting, payroll, benefits administration, and leave management
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws
- Experience supporting both hourly and salaried workforces
- Excellent communication and employee‑facing interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- HR certification such as PHR, SHRM‑CP, or equivalent
- Experience supporting a growing or scaling organization
- HRIS and payroll system experience (ADP)
