Duties
- Assist residents in understanding and complying with Fair Housing regulations and Section 8 housing programs, ensuring fair access for all.
- Conduct crisis intervention when urgent situations arise, providing immediate support and coordinating with emergency services as needed.
- Negotiate lease agreements and resolve landlord-tenant disputes by applying knowledge of landlord-tenant law and property management best practices.
- Utilize property management software such as Yardi or OneSite to maintain accurate records of resident interactions, rent payments, and case notes.
- Implement motivational interviewing techniques to motivate residents toward positive behavioral changes and increased self-sufficiency.
- Provide addiction counseling support and connect residents with appropriate mental health or substance abuse services.
- Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis management skills, de-escalating conflicts and ensuring resident safety at all times.
- Collaborate with social work teams to develop personalized support plans that address each resident’s unique needs and goals.
Requirements
- Proven experience in social work, case management, or housing support roles, preferably within LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) or affordable housing settings.
- Strong knowledge of landlord-tenant law, Fair Housing regulations, and Section 8 voucher programs.
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with the ability to handle sensitive situations tactfully.
- Experience with property management software such as Yardi or OneSite is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability in crisis intervention, crisis management, and addiction counseling techniques.
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing strategies to foster resident engagement and empowerment.
- Knowledge of social work principles, mental health resources, and addiction treatment options.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
