Position Title: Medical Assistant

Location:Dr PM Sleep and Wellness Medical Center: 12395 El Camino Real Suite 209 San Diego, CA 92130. Starting in September once a week at our Oceanside location: 3230 Waring Court Oceanside, CA 92056

Employment Type: Full Time

Typical Work Schedule: In person Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Hourly Range:$20.00 - 25.00 (based on level of experience.)

Located in Carmel Valley and Oceanside, our clinic offers exceptional care tailored to individual needs. Dr. Mashayekhi brings her expertise and patient-focused approach to this new venture, ensuring personalized attention for every visitor.

Joining our dedicated team, we seek a Medical Assistant to support our operations across all locations. Applicant should have a solid understanding of insurance processes—including eligibility, copays, and check‑in procedures—while demonstrating strong customer service skills, fast and accurate computer proficiency, the ability to multitask, and comfort using Microsoft applications, communicating through Microsoft Teams, and documenting in electronic medical records, ideally with experience in EPIC, insurance portals, and other EHR systems. Essential Functions:

• Greet patients and visitors warmly, maintaining eye contact upon entering the center
• Efficiently manage patient check-ins, appointment scheduling, and demographic verification
• Schedule and confirm follow-up appointments
• Handle incoming calls and direct them appropriately
• Responds to and resolves administrative inquiries and questions
• Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits prior to appointments
• Collect copays and outstanding balances accurately and efficiently
• Provide education and step‑by‑step instructions for home sleep study equipment
• Support both front and back office operations to ensure smooth clinic workflow
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient confidentiality standards
• Provide comprehensive medical administrative support
• Assist new patients and re‑establish care for returning patients
• Support providers by preparing History of Present Illness (HPI) notes
• Navigate and update Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
• Prepare patient charts, including organizing documents for sleep studies, lab results, and CURES verification
• Request and track authorizations for patient referrals, medications, office visits, and sleep studies
  
  

Additional Job Dutiesinclude, but are not limited to the following:

• Acquiring CPAP data downloads and collaborating closely with local Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers.
• Capable of administering intramuscular B12 and sample injections on occasion.
  
  

Highly Desirable

• Training in the use of CPAP masks and assisting patients with fitting sample PAP masks.
• Experience in sleep medicine, psychiatry/behavioral health, neurology, pulmonology, cardiology or ENT
• Fast typing skills and experience with Microsoft Applications like Outlook and Teams
• Front desk experience is preferred
• Familiar with various insurance carriers ie Medicare, PPOs, and Sharp Health Plans/SCMG
• Experience in sleep medicine, weight management, psychiatry/behavioral health, neurology, pulmonology, cardiology or ENT
  
  

Competencies & Success Factors:

• A Medical Assistant Certificate is preferred.
• Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or in a comparable role within the healthcare sector is beneficial.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to ensure effective interactions with patients and team members.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, particularly in managing patient records and clinical responsibilities.
• Proficient in the use of EMR systems and knowledgeable in medical terminology.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and poise under pressure.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
