Position Overview
The Player’s Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the on-course guest experience across all five of Shanty Creek’s golf courses: The Legend, Cedar River, Schuss Mountain, Summit Golf Course, and Hawk’s Eye.
This position focuses on supporting players—ensuring they feel welcome, safe, informed, and cared for throughout their round.
Player’s Assistants are not enforcers. Instead, they serve as friendly, approachable ambassadors who promote guest satisfaction, golf safety, and pace of play through Shanty Creek’s Four Degrees of Engagement:
- Observe and Greet
- Inform and Encourage
- Coach and Redirect
- Involve Management (if needed)
This guest-first approach ensures that any issues are handled respectfully while maintaining a positive experience for all.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate a golf cart
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in golf operations or customer service
- Basic knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, and terminology
- Experience working in a resort or recreational environment
Key Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming, respectful, and service-oriented environment for all guests
- Provide assistance and answer questions in a friendly and professional manner
- Monitor and support pace of play using the Four Degrees of Engagement
- Address slow play and etiquette concerns with courtesy and professionalism
- Conduct regular course patrols to ensure safety and cleanliness
- Identify and report course hazards, incidents, or unusual activity
- Support the golf operations team during peak times and events
- Encourage smooth pace of play while maintaining a positive guest experience
Skills & Attributes
The ideal Player’s Assistant is observant, proactive, and enjoys helping others. Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills are essential to positively influence pace of play and respond effectively to guest needs.
A calm, friendly demeanor and a team-oriented mindset are key to success in this role. Familiarity with golf etiquette is helpful but not required—training will be provided to ensure confidence in all aspects of the position.
