Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the kitchen line, ensuring timely and accurate meal preparation in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative environment focused on quality, safety, and efficiency
- Oversee food production processes including grilling, braising, poaching, and other cooking techniques to maintain consistency and excellence
- Ensure compliance with all food safety sanitizing procedures, proper food handling practices, and food safety management protocols
- Assist with menu planning and recipe adherence to uphold culinary standards and introduce new dish ideas when appropriate
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining cleanliness and organization of workstations
- Support catering events and high-volume food service operations by managing meal preparation and serving logistics
Experience
- Proven culinary experience in a fast-paced restaurant or food industry environment with a focus on fine dining or high-volume production
- Demonstrated leadership skills in supervising kitchen teams, including training staff in knife skills, food safety procedures, and food handling techniques
- Extensive knowledge of various cooking methods such as grilling, braising, poaching, and other culinary techniques
- Experience with menu planning, recipe development, and meal preparation for diverse dietary needs including dietary aide experience or dietary department familiarity preferred
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations, sanitizing procedures, and food safety management systems
- Ability to operate a wide range of kitchen equipment safely while maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with serving staff and ensuring smooth service flow
