Position Summary
As the Maintenance Technician at The Gateway, you will be responsible for maintaining the property's apartments, common areas, and building systems. You will complete work orders, perform preventative maintenance, assist with apartment turnovers, and help ensure the property remains in excellent condition for our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete resident service requests promptly and professionally.
- Diagnose and repair plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, and general maintenance issues.
- Perform apartment turnovers, including repairs, painting, patching, preparation, and move-in readiness.
- Complete drywall, plaster, painting, tile, flooring, and finish repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
- Assist with maintaining common areas, exterior grounds, and building appearance.
- Identify maintenance concerns and proactively recommend solutions.
- Maintain accurate work order documentation.
- Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Provide outstanding customer service while interacting with residents, vendors, and fellow team members.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who is reliable, self-motivated, and committed to quality workmanship.
Experience in:
- Plumbing repairs
- Carpentry
- Drywall, plaster, and painting
- Tile installation and flooring repairs
- Basic to intermediate electrical work
- General apartment maintenance
HVAC experience is a plus but not required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift 40 pounds and perform physical maintenance work throughout the day
- Must provide basic hand tools required for everyday maintenance work. Specialized tools and equipment will be supplied by the company as needed.
Preferred Certifications
The following certifications are preferred but not required:
- Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler License (New Jersey)
- EPA Section 608 Certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- NJ-recognized maintenance or building operations certifications
