Warehouse Specialist – Shipping & Receiving

Job Type: Temporary, with potential for temp-to-hire
Shift: 1st Shift – Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM and 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, with a 1-hour lunch break
Interview Type: In-person
Dress Code: Warehouse attire; jeans must not have holes, and T-shirts must not display offensive language or graphics.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Warehouse Specialist – Shipping & Receiving to support daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and order fulfillment.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of warehouse experience, including one year of stand-up forklift experience, along with RF scanner proficiency, basic computer skills, and a strong commitment to safety and customer service.

This role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. Candidates must also be willing to cross-train and provide backup coverage at another facility when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Process incoming and outgoing shipments, including receiving, shipping, and order fulfillment.
• Notify customers when incoming packages are ready for pickup and provide excellent customer service.
• Use RF scanners to process warehouse transactions, shipments, and inventory movements accurately.
• Verify item numbers, quantities, and order details to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Inspect incoming and outgoing freight for damage, discrepancies, and proper documentation.
• Prepare, palletize, and load shipments onto trailers and vans while preventing damage during transit.
• Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, safely and efficiently.
• Perform cycle counts, inventory checks, and quality assurance inspections.
• Consolidate stock and maintain an organized, efficient warehouse.
• Conduct daily forklift and equipment inspections and report any maintenance concerns.
• Follow warehouse safety policies, security procedures, and applicable shipping compliance requirements.
• Maintain workplace organization and follow established 5S standards.
• Meet productivity, quality, and accuracy goals.
• Follow standard operating procedures and complete assigned tasks within deadlines.
• Provide backup support across departments and at another facility as required.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of warehouse experience.
• At least 1 year of stand-up forklift experience, such as reach truck or dock stocker operation.
• Previous forklift certification or relevant experience operating a reach truck, dock stocker, or sit-down forklift.
• Experience using RF scanners in a warehouse environment.
• Basic computer skills, including typing and sending emails.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Good math, reading comprehension, and documentation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to follow instructions, multitask, and work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs; team lifting is required for heavier items.
• Willingness to cross-train and provide backup coverage at another facility when needed.

Work Environment

This position involves working in a warehouse setting with regular physical activity and the use of material handling equipment. Candidates must be comfortable handling shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, following safety procedures, and supporting daily warehouse operations.
