Seven Animal Health is seeking an experienced Veterinarian (OCONUS) to join a highly specialised deployed veterinary team supporting working dogs, including explosive detection canines, in overseas environments.
This is a unique opportunity for a licensed veterinarian to work in a mission-critical setting, providing advanced veterinary care, preventative treatment, and operational support in austere and challenging locations. You will collaborate with both deployed colleagues and U.S.-based veterinary and operational teams to ensure the health, readiness, and performance of working dogs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations and diagnose illnesses, injuries, and medical conditions in working canines
- Deliver high-quality treatment plans to optimise canine health and operational readiness
- Perform routine, elective, and emergency surgical procedures within a working dog general practice
- Develop and implement preventative care strategies to reduce downtime and enhance fitness for duty
- Operate and interpret diagnostic imaging, including digital radiography and ultrasound
- Maintain accurate records using a cloud-based veterinary medical system, ensuring compliance and reporting standards
- Provide training and education to handlers, trainers, and veterinary personnel on injury prevention, triage, and zoonotic diseases
- Conduct inspections and provide expert guidance on kennel and operational facilities
Essential Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an AVMA-accredited institution
- Active veterinary license in at least one U.S. state
- Ability to obtain Virginia state licensure within 90 days
- USDA Accreditation (minimum Category 1) for issuing international health certificates
- U.S. Citizenship with a valid U.S. passport
- Ability to obtain or maintain SECRET security clearance
- Minimum 2 years’ clinical experience as a practicing veterinarian
- Strong ability to work independently in remote or high-pressure environments
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with global veterinary teams
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working with explosive detection dogs or other working dog populations
