Key Responsibilities of the OB/GYN Sonographer
- Perform high-quality obstetric and gynecological ultrasound examinations in accordance with departmental protocols
- Obtain accurate diagnostic images to assist physicians in patient assessment and treatment planning
- Evaluate image quality and recognize normal and abnormal findings
- Maintain patient comfort, privacy, and safety throughout each examination
- Accurately document imaging findings and maintain complete patient records
- Ensure ultrasound equipment is functioning correctly and report any maintenance requirements
- Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and departmental standards
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
Requirements of the OB/GYN Sonographer Role
- Current BLS certification
- Current ARDMS certification with OB/GYN specialty credentials
- Minimum 2 years of recent OB/GYN ultrasound experience
- Strong knowledge of obstetric and gynecological imaging techniques
- Excellent communication, technical, and patient care skills
