Commercial Lighting Estimator, Electrical Distribution

We're working with an established electrical distributor that's looking to bring on a Lighting Estimator for its commercial lighting team.
This is a great opportunity to specialize in lighting you'd be working directly with an experienced lighting leadership team, learning how to price, value engineer, and break down commercial projects on your own. The hiring manager cares most about finding someone who's genuinely eager to learn and wants to build a long-term career in the industry.
Role Summary
The role covers estimating and pricing commercial lighting projects, with a strong focus on reviewing jobs in detail rather than simply relying on manufacturer or rep quotes. You'll handle in-house pricing and value engineering, working closely with outside sales and local manufacturer reps throughout.
The projects themselves span a wide range of sectors, including data centers, healthcare, education, corporate offices, and government work. Alongside the technical side, you'll also build strong relationships with customers, becoming a trusted point of contact for them over time.
Ideal Background
- Background in the electrical industry.
- Lighting experience is a plus, but a switchgear background would also work.
- Sharp attention to detail and a willingness to actually dig into specs.
- Comfortable building relationships with reps, customers, and sales teams.
- Knowledge of the DC/Maryland market is a strong plus.
