Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Construction Superintendent to oversee residential and commercial reconstruction projects. This position will have a strong focus on exterior construction—including roofing, siding, gutters, windows, doors, fascia, soffit, and storm-related repairs—but will also manage interior reconstruction projects as needed.

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for taking projects from approved scope through completion while coordinating subcontractors, materials, schedules, inspections, quality control, and customer communication.

This is a field-focused position for someone who understands construction, can keep multiple projects moving, holds subcontractors accountable, and takes ownership of the finished product.

Primary ResponsibilitiesExterior Construction

• Oversee roofing replacement and repair projects, including asphalt shingles and other common roofing systems.
• Manage siding installation and repairs, including vinyl, engineered, metal, and other exterior systems.
• Coordinate gutter and downspout replacement and repairs.
• Manage soffit, fascia, flashing, trim, and exterior carpentry.
• Coordinate window and exterior door replacement.
• Inspect exterior damage and assist in determining appropriate repair methods.
• Ensure proper installation of flashing, underlayment, weather barriers, ventilation, and other building-envelope components.
• Oversee storm-damage reconstruction projects involving wind, hail, trees, water intrusion, and other property damage.
• Coordinate exterior trades and subcontractors from project startup through final inspection.

Interior Reconstruction

While exterior construction will be a primary specialty, the Superintendent may also oversee interior projects involving:

• Drywall and insulation
• Painting
• Flooring
• Trim and finish carpentry
• Cabinets and countertops
• Interior doors
• Basic plumbing and electrical coordination
• Bathroom and kitchen reconstruction
• Fire and water damage reconstruction
• Larger multi-trade restoration projects

Project Management & Field Supervision

• Review approved estimates, scopes, drawings, and project documentation before beginning work.
• Perform job-site walkthroughs and develop a plan for completing each project efficiently.
• Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, suppliers, dumpsters, equipment, and material deliveries.
• Maintain an organized production schedule across multiple active projects.
• Verify subcontractors understand the scope before beginning work.
• Inspect work throughout the project rather than waiting until completion to identify problems.
• Maintain high standards for workmanship, cleanliness, safety, and customer property protection.
• Identify scope discrepancies, unforeseen conditions, and potential change orders promptly.
• Communicate additional work or scope changes to management before unauthorized work is performed.
• Coordinate required permits and inspections.
• Perform punch-list inspections and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
• Confirm projects are substantially complete before requesting final customer walkthrough.
• Maintain accurate documentation, photographs, notes, and project updates.

Subcontractor Management

The Superintendent will play a major role in managing our subcontractor network.

Responsibilities include:

• Scheduling and coordinating subcontractors.
• Clearly communicating scopes and expectations.
• Reviewing subcontractor workmanship.
• Confirming work is completed according to scope, manufacturer requirements, and applicable building codes.
• Holding subcontractors accountable for schedules, quality, cleanup, and callbacks.
• Identifying dependable subcontractors and helping develop additional trade relationships.
• Reviewing subcontractor pricing and identifying cost or scope discrepancies.
• Preventing unnecessary rework through proactive field supervision.

Customer Communication

• Serve as a primary field contact for customers during construction.
• Explain schedules, construction processes, and upcoming work.
• Set realistic expectations regarding project timelines.
• Communicate delays or changes promptly.
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while representing the company.
• Address customer concerns before they become larger issues.
• Conduct or participate in final walkthroughs and ensure outstanding items are resolved.

Insurance Restoration Responsibilities

Because many projects involve insured property losses, the Superintendent should be comfortable working within an insurance-restoration environment.

Responsibilities may include:

• Reviewing insurance scopes and estimates.
• Identifying missing or incorrect construction items.
• Documenting concealed or additional damage discovered during construction.
• Taking photographs and providing field documentation needed for supplements.
• Communicating scope discrepancies to the Project Manager or estimator.
• Understanding that insurance estimates may require adjustment as actual construction conditions are discovered.
• Helping ensure completed work matches both the authorized scope and actual site conditions.

Experience with Xactimate, insurance restoration, storm damage, or property claims is highly desirable, but training may be provided to the right construction professional.

Safety & Quality Expectations

• Maintain safe and organized job sites.
• Ensure subcontractors and employees follow company safety requirements.
• Identify fall hazards and other risks associated with roofing and exterior construction.
• Protect customer property, landscaping, driveways, and interior spaces.
• Verify proper installation practices and manufacturer specifications.
• Address workmanship problems immediately.
• Minimize callbacks and warranty issues through proper supervision and quality control.

Qualifications

Preferred experience includes:

• 5 years of construction experience preferred.
• Previous Superintendent, Project Superintendent, Construction Manager, Foreman, or similar leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of roofing, siding, gutters, windows, doors, and exterior construction.
• Working knowledge of interior residential construction.
• Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades.
• Ability to read construction scopes, estimates, plans, and specifications.
• Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
• Ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, email, photographs, and construction-management software.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Insurance restoration, storm restoration, Xactimate, and residential/commercial reconstruction experience are significant advantages.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to access active construction sites, including uneven surfaces.
• Ability to climb ladders and safely inspect roofing and exterior construction when appropriate.
• Ability to lift and carry construction materials and equipment as required.
• Ability to travel locally between multiple active job sites.
• Occasional out-of-area travel may be required for major storm events or catastrophe response.

This person should be able to walk onto a project, understand what needs to happen next, coordinate the appropriate people and materials, identify problems before they become expensive, and take ownership of getting the project across the finish line.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a construction professional first and a field leader second. We are looking for someone who knows exterior construction exceptionally well but isn't limited to one trade.

They should be comfortable managing a roof replacement one day, coordinating siding and gutters the next, and overseeing drywall, flooring, paint, and finish work on an interior insurance reconstruction project when needed.

Most importantly, we want someone who takes ownership of their projects, communicates well, solves problems, and gets work completed correctly the first time.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
