What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floater/Aftercare Teacher position at ServingSchools?
Cornerspring Montessori School seeks a full-time Floater/Aftercare Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year to provide support to classrooms from 11:00 am to 3 pm with occasional additional substitute hours. Aftercare staff work with children 2 to 12 years and are responsible for leading activities and supervising children in the aftercare program 3:00 – 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. This position is 10:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
This position requires a nurturing, conscientious teacher who is passionate about working with children. A candidate for this position must be committed to providing a peaceful and accepting classroom environment, display strong organizational and communication skills and a desire to work as a part of a school community in a collaborative partnership to support students’ learning. A well-qualified candidate will have experience in a Montessori classroom and a patient and positive demeanor.

Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree
Montessori Credential Level: Primary preferred
Cornerspring Montessori School provides an excellent educational option for families with children aged 18 months to 14 years in Mid-coast Maine. We offer toddler, preschool, kindergarten, elementary, and middle school programs, before- and after-school care, and summer day camps. Cornerspring Montessori School was founded in 2001 in response to a need in the area for a high-quality preschool program. Originally located in a Victorian home in downtown Belfast with an enrollment of eight children, the school’s reputation and the appeal of Dr. Maria Montessori’s teaching philosophy continues to draw students and families as the school now serves children through the middle school years.
We moved into our Passive House-standard building in 2017. Designed and built by Belfast-based architecture and construction firm GO Logic, the facility is highly energy efficient and green, with photovoltaic panels supplying the majority of our electricity. Just minutes from downtown Belfast, but situated on 42 acres of woodlands, Cornerspring offers a wealth of opportunities for nature-based education.
