What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer plays a key support role in keeping projects organized, on schedule, and running smoothly. You’ll help bridge communication between the office, field, vendors, and clients while building strong technical and project coordination skills.
Project Support & Coordination
- Assist with preparing and managing project schedules, plans, and deliverables
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to keep tasks on track
- Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to the Project Manager
Technical Design & Implementation
- Review drawings, specifications, and submittals for accuracy and compliance
- Support system design checks, value engineering efforts, and change order documentation
- Help identify design conflicts or constructability issues before they impact the field
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain organized, up-to-date project files including drawings, logs, and reports
- Track RFIs, submittals, and project changes
- Provide regular status updates and documentation support to the Project Manager
Quality Control & Compliance
- Assist with ensuring installations align with project plans and specifications
- Support compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards
- Help address scope, schedule, or budget-related issues as they arise
Collaboration & Communication
- Maintain clear communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Help ensure changes in scope or schedule are communicated promptly
- Foster positive working relationships across all project stakeholders
Safety & Risk Awareness
- Support adherence to SCE safety standards and OSHA regulations
- Help identify and communicate potential job site risks or hazards
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in electrical construction or a similar engineering/support role
Technical Knowledge:
- Understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and safety practices
- Experience reviewing construction drawings and specifications
Software Skills:
- Familiarity with tools such as Bluebeam, MS Project, Accubid, Procore, or similar platforms
Certifications:
- OSHA 10 Certification (required)
Professional Skills:
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Education (Preferred):
- Bachelor’s degree, trade school training, or related field
- Additional certifications such as PMP, PE, or OSHA 30 are a plus
- Experience with BIM or digital construction tools is a bonus
Physical Requirements
- Combination of office work and job site visits
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Frequent standing and walking on construction sites
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, and work in elevated or tight spaces
- Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong visual ability to read blueprints and technical documents
