Position Overview:
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Superintendent ensures projects are executed safely, on time, on budget, and per specifications. This is a leadership role combining management, planning, and technical expertise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Leadership
- Build and manage teams of Foremen, Leads, electricians, and helpers.
- Mentor and educate team members, prioritizing potential and drive.
- Motivate your team while maintaining accountability and a positive work environment.
- Clearly communicate expectations and align the team with project goals.
Project Oversight & Planning
- Oversee daily field operations in alignment with project specifications, codes, and schedules.
- Plan work in advance to optimize manpower, reduce inefficiencies, and minimize last-minute material orders.
- Develop a material buyout plan at project start to manage procurement effectively.
- Track labor hours, production, and material usage for budget compliance.
- Manage tools and equipment to minimize shrinkage and ensure operational efficiency.
Meetings & Coordination
- Attend weekly Project Manager, subcontractor, GC, manpower forecasting, and WIP meetings as required.
- Lead daily huddles with Foremen and Leads to align on daily objectives and priorities.
- Provide field updates, resource needs, and escalate challenges promptly.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including labor tracking, three-week look-ahead schedules, progress drawings, project trackers, and material requests/releases.
- Draft RFIs to clarify scope or resolve conflicts.
- Prepare monthly as-built updates and ensure data accuracy for budgets, hours, and change orders.
Safety & Quality
- Enforce safety policies and QA/QC procedures on all projects.
- Conduct regular inspections and testing (e.g., megging, torqueing) and ensure proper documentation.
- Promote a strong safety culture and hold teams accountable for compliance.
Technology & Tools
- Use construction management software, digital tools, and BIM for tracking, reporting, and documentation.
- Ensure timely and accurate updates to all project trackers and digital records.
Required Qualifications:
Experience & Knowledge:
- Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar role in commercial electrical/construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, electrical systems, and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical documents.
Leadership & Communication:
- Exceptional ability to manage, motivate, and mentor field teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communicator, capable of resolving issues and aligning teams under pressure.
Certifications & Technical Skills:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Journeyman License
- NFPA 70e Certification
- QA/QC experience
- Bluebeam/PlanGrid experience
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking, climbing, and movement around active construction sites.
- Ability to work on uneven terrain, heights, and varying weather conditions.
Signing Bonus Information:
Service Complete Electric may offer a signing bonus of up to $15,000 for qualified candidates in recognition of the critical nature of these roles.
Signing bonuses are not standard compensation and are available only to new external hires with prior written approval. Signing bonuses are not guaranteed, are discretionary, and are subject to change.
Approved signing bonuses are paid in installments over the employee’s first year of continuous employment and require the employee to be actively employed at the time each installment is paid. Final terms, if approved, are governed by the offer letter, which will outline the specific amount, payment schedule, and any repayment obligations if employment ends before one year.
Signing bonuses are processed through payroll and are subject to applicable taxes and withholdings. Subject to executive approval.
