Junior Buyer – IT Hardware Purchasing & Sourcing

As a Junior Buyer at Server Tech Solutions, you will jumpstart your purchasing career by sourcing deals, building high-value supplier relationships, and working alongside experienced purchasing leaders.

This is an apprenticeship with real ownership. You’ll work directly with our Purchasing Manager to source and close smaller acquisitions, grow your own network of vendor contacts, and support major enterprise transactions. Success starts with picking up the phone, following through, and building lasting business partnerships.

Key Responsibilities & Core Ownership

• Source and close small deals: Identify buying opportunities, contact sellers, negotiate, and close purchases within limits set by the Purchasing Manager. You’ll build experience through consistent activity and repeated practice.
• Build your network: Find and develop relationships with suppliers, IT asset disposition (ITAD) companies, and businesses selling used hardware. Keep growing the list of contacts who know you and take your calls.
• Support larger purchases: Prepare equipment lists, pricing comparisons, and deal paperwork while learning how the Purchasing Manager evaluates, negotiates, and closes larger opportunities.
• Deliver complete handoffs: Provide the Purchasing Coordinator and Asset Manager with accurate equipment details, quantities, agreed pricing, terms, and supporting documentation so purchases can move smoothly into ordering and receiving.
• Keep records current: Document outreach, supplier information, follow-ups, and deal status so opportunities stay organized.
• Do business with integrity: Follow purchasing guidelines, stay within your authority, and ask before making exceptions. No side arrangements, gifts, or kickbacks.

Qualifications & Skills

• 2 years of experience in sales, sourcing, or purchasing. This role is designed for someone early in their career who wants to learn.
• Some hands-on cold outreach experience, with examples of how you’ve approached new contacts by phone, email, or in person.
• Interest in technology and hardware, with the willingness to quickly learn about enterprise drives, servers, and components.
• Clear communication and the confidence to start conversations, ask questions, and follow up.
• Strong organization and attention to detail when tracking contacts, comparing information, and preparing paperwork.
• Comfort using spreadsheets and learning purchasing or contact management systems.

Compensation & Career Growth

• Competitive Earnings: Base salary starting at $75,000 with On-Target Earnings (OTE) of $150,000.
