Summary
The HR Benefits Specialist plays a critical role in managing and administering employee benefits programs while supporting overall human resources functions. This position ensures that benefits offerings are competitive, compliant with regulations, and effectively communicated to employees to maximize engagement and satisfaction. The specialist collaborates with insurance providers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve benefits-related issues and streamline processes. Additionally, this role involves maintaining accurate records, analyzing benefits data, and assisting with HR initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture. Ultimately, the Benefits Specialist contributes to attracting and retaining talent by delivering exceptional benefits administration and HR support.
Responsibilities
- Administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, leave policies, and wellness initiatives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries, enrollment, and claims resolution.
- Collaborate with benefits vendors and insurance carriers to ensure timely and accurate processing of benefits.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to employee benefits and HR policies.
- Support HR functions such as onboarding, employee records management, and policy communication.
- Analyze benefits utilization and costs to recommend improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in the development and delivery of employee communications and training related to benefits and HR programs.
- Participate in audits and reporting related to benefits administration and HR compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 1 to2 years of experience in benefits administration or human resources.
- Working knowledge of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
- Familiarity with applicable employment laws and regulations such as ERISA, ACA, FMLA, and HIPAA.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
