Summary
As a Job Coach, you’ll be a mentor, advocate, and guide for adults with IDD, supporting them in finding meaningful employment and achieving long-term success. Every day, you’ll make a difference by providing one-on-one coaching, workplace support, and job development assistance to help clients reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Support & Coaching
- Assist individuals with job searches, including resumes, applications, and interviews.
- Develop personalized employment plans that align with clients’ strengths and goals.
- Teach workplace skills such as teamwork, time management, and problem-solving.
- Help clients overcome employment barriers and build independence.
- Provide ongoing coaching and encouragement to ensure long-term job success.
On-Site Job Coaching
- Work alongside clients at their workplaces, helping them learn tasks and expectations.
- Advocate for workplace accommodations and foster an inclusive work environment.
- Gradually reduce support as clients gain confidence and independence.
- Collaborate with supervisors and coworkers to create a positive workplace culture.
Job Development & Employer Relations
- Build relationships with employers who value diversity and inclusion.
- Identify job opportunities that match clients’ skills and career goals.
- Educate businesses on the benefits of hiring individuals with IDD.
- Serve as a liaison between clients and employers to ensure a smooth transition into the workforce.
Workplace Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor clients’ job performance and celebrate their successes.
- Provide ongoing feedback and support to help clients thrive.
- Maintain detailed records of client progress, job placements, and workplace experiences.
Collaboration & Training
- Work alongside social service agencies, community partners, and fellow Job Coaches to build a strong support network.
- Stay up to date with best practices in employment services for individuals with IDD.
What You Bring to the Team:
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Experience in job coaching, vocational rehabilitation, or disability support is a plus.
- Passion for helping individuals with intellectual disabilities succeed in the workforce.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of IDD and workplace inclusion strategies.
- Working with people with intellectual disabilities.
- Problem-solving mindset with patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to adapt coaching techniques to fit different workplace settings.
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel between job sites.
