Senior Care of Marion is seeking an experienced and organized Dietary Kitchen Manager to lead our dietary department and ensure the preparation and delivery of nutritious, high-quality meals for our residents. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, knowledge of food service operations, and a passion for enhancing the dining experience for seniors and residents in long-term care.
Job Summary
The Dietary Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dietary department, including meal preparation, food safety compliance, staff supervision, inventory management, and resident meal service. This position plays a critical role in supporting resident health, satisfaction, and quality of life through proper nutrition and exceptional food service. NEED TO BE CERTIFIED
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the dietary department.
- Supervise, schedule, train, and evaluate dietary staff.
- Ensure all meals are prepared and served according to physician orders, therapeutic diets, and resident preferences.
- Collaborate with the Registered Dietitian to implement nutritional care plans and dietary modifications.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, local, and facility food safety regulations.
- Monitor food preparation, sanitation, storage, and infection control practices.
- Manage food and supply inventories and place orders as necessary.
- Control departmental expenses while maintaining quality standards.
- Conduct routine inspections of kitchen equipment and work areas.
- Ensure accurate documentation related to sanitation, temperatures, and meal service.
- Address resident and family concerns regarding food service.
- Participate in quality assurance and survey preparedness activities.
- Foster a positive and respectful work environment within the dietary department.
Qualifications
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of dietary management experience, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutritional requirements for elderly residents.
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and infection control regulations.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in inventory management and budgeting practices.
