Location: Eagan, MI (Hybrid – 4 days onsite / 1 day remote)

Position Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Middleware Administrator III to support a large-scale enterprise infrastructure environment spanning data centers and cloud platforms. This role is ideal for a senior-level middleware or systems professional who thrives in complex, mission-critical environments and enjoys technical ownership, problem-solving, and mentoring peers.
You will be responsible for administering, monitoring, and optimizing middleware platforms and server environments across Linux, Unix, and Windows systems. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with application servers, container platforms, cloud services, automation tools, and enterprise monitoring solutions.
This role offers the opportunity to work on one of the largest and most complex computing environments in the U.S., influencing system reliability, application performance, cybersecurity posture, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, support, and troubleshoot middleware platforms including web servers, application servers, containers, and messaging technologies
- Provide operational support for Linux, Unix, and Windows server environments in enterprise data centers
- Lead incident response and troubleshooting efforts related to middleware, systems, and infrastructure
- Perform system maintenance: patching, upgrades, performance tuning, backup & recovery
- Support container platforms such as Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenShift
- Monitor systems using enterprise observability tools (application, log, network, and systems monitoring)
- Deploy and manage application environments in cloud platforms (Azure / GCP preferred)
- Support middleware systems including messaging platforms, load balancing, and API management
- Automate system tasks using scripting and configuration management tools
- Develop capacity planning, disaster recovery, and operational best practices
- Participate in change management workflows using ticketing and incident systems
- Create documentation, troubleshooting guides, and system runbooks
- Mentor junior administrators and collaborate with engineering and application teams
- Maintain system reliability, performance, and security in a 24/7 enterprise environment
Required Skills / Education:
Required Experience:
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience as a Systems Administrator, Middleware Engineer, or Infrastructure Engineer
- Technical proficiency in at least two of the following:
- Middleware administration
- Linux / Unix systems administration
- Windows Server administration
Middleware / Platform Technologies (Primary Focus):
Experience with several of the following:
- Tomcat, WildFly, WebSphere, Apache HTTP Server
- Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift
- IBM MQ, Kafka, Zookeeper
- Ansible, PowerShell, Linux shell scripting, Jython
- Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform
- AppDynamics, Splunk, SolarWinds, Zabbix or similar monitoring tools
- API gateways and infrastructure platforms
Systems Experience:
- Enterprise Linux or Unix experience (RedHat, SUSE, Ubuntu, AIX preferred)
- Windows Server administration experience in virtualized environments
- VMware / ESX experience strongly preferred
- Storage, backup & disaster recovery exposure
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
- Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
